NASCAR's Kenseth In Prime Position For Title

Cambridge Native Won Championship In 2003

Updated: 8:51 am CDT October 22, 2011

There are just five races left for the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Madison-area native Matt Kenseth is in prime position for another title.

The Cambridge native won the driving championship in 2003.

Heading into this weekend’s race at Talladega, Kenseth was third in point standings. Coming off last week’s win in Charlotte, he said he is building on that momentum. However, he knows there’s many races still to come.

"It's been quite a while (since 2003)," he said. "Things change. There's been a lot of rules changes and some format changes since then, but we've had a good season so far. The most important part of the season is coming up and it really doesn't matter what you did last week. It matters what you're going to do moving forward."
