REPORTS OF SHOTS FIRED ON MADISON'S SOUTH-SIDE EARLY
IS NOW A HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION.
NEWS 3'S LEAH LINSCHEID HAS THE DETAILS.
MADISON OFFICERS RESPONDED TO THE 700 BLOCK OF BADGER
ROAD AROUND 3-30 THIS MORNING.
AFTER RECEIVING REPORTS OF GUN-FIRE THERE.
Upon arrival, we found a man who was shot and was
lying in the street dying.
He ultimately did succumb from his wounds.
THE 25-YEAR-OLD MAN HAS NOT YET BEEN IDENTIFIED.
BUT OFFICERS ALREADY HAVE SEVERAL SIGNIFICANT LEADS
AS THEY SEARCH FOR A SUSPECT.
IT'S NOT YET CLEAR HOW MANY TIMES THE VICTIM WAS SHOT.
AND OFFICERS SAY IT'S TOO EARLY TO DETERMINE A MOTIVE.
THEY ALSO SAY AT LEAST ONE OTHER PERSON WAS INJURED
IN THE INCIDENT.
THOUGH THOSE INJURIES WERE LIKELY NOT CAUSED BY GUN-FIRE.
AND WERE NOT LIFE-THREATENING.
POLICE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR MORE INFORMATION AS THEY
CONTINUE TO INVESTIGATE.
When you have a 25-year-old young male who succumbs
to a gunshot injury in the prime of his life, I'm
hopeful that family or friends or people will be outraged
by this kind of violence and will come forward and
give us information through Crime Stoppers or any
means we can.
