MADISON, Wis. -- News 3 anchorman John Karcher and photojournalist John Wacker are safely back in Madison from their special assignment in Baghdad.
They had high praise for the 32nd Military Police, the unit that kept them safe for a week."Just everywhere you go, everyone has loaded weapons and that's the norm," Wacker said. "Our bodyguards were great. They were constantly scanning, because it could come from any direction -- and you didn't feel at risk."Karcher was walking on the street and says he felt the blast of Sunday's bomb."When that bomb went off Sunday -- that scared the hell out of me," Karcher said.Their special series will begin airing Feb. 1 -- right after the Super Bowl on WISC-TV3.
