It's the end of another year, and that means a lot of media outlets will be telling you what the top stories of 2003 were. At Channel 3000, you told us.

We reviewed our server stats for the year and ranked the top stories by page views. That means the following are the most-requested pages, viewed by you. So, what were you interested in the most? In a nutshell: sex, murder and "Survivor."

The Kobe Bryant sex scandal was the No. 1 news story on Channel 3000 in 2003.

Locally, three murder stories were the most viewed. No. 2 was the Verona triple murder, "Police Identify Verona Murder Victims." No. 3 was the story about a Richland County woman accused of killing a newborn and hiding the body in a plastic storage bin, " Family Finds Baby Girl In Plastic Container." The fourth-ranking local story was about a Madison man accused of shooting and killing his stepsons, " Double Homicide Motivation Unknown."

Coming in at 5 and 6 are two stories about deadly car crashes. No. 5 came in June when a driver lost control after a tire blow out, "Victim Identified From I-90 Accident." No. 6 was the three-car crash in August that killed five people near Janesville, "Driver Faces Homicide Charges For I-90 Crash."

The most-requested page in our Entertainment section was our weekend events/community calendar page. This page is a listing of local events sent in by you and events read during the "News 3 This Morning" "Mad About Town" segment.

In addition to local news stories, Channel 3000 offers many interactive features, such as slideshows, video clips and online discussions.

The No. 1 slideshow you viewed in 2003 was the "News 3 at Noon" "Pet of the Week" segment. Each week, News 3 features an animal -- or in some cases a reptile -- from the Dane County Humane Society that needs a home. We post its picture, booking number and description on Channel 3000. ( See Slideshow )

We started a new section in 2003 devoted solely to video on Channel 3000, located in the middle of the homepage, called "News 3 Multi-Media." The most-requested video clip in 2003 was an offshoot of the most-popular reality show in America, "Survivor" -- "'Survivor' Best Friends Pose In Playboy." (This video clip is no longer available, but you can see other video clips here.)

One of the most important aspects of Channel 3000 is that we depend on interaction from you. Whenever you have a comment about anything, you can send an e-mail to talkback@wisctv.com or you can log onto our online Talkback forums. In this section, we post discussion topics pertaining to ongoing news stories and other water-cooler topics, and Editorial Director Neil Heinen also posts his daily editorials here. Neil hit a hot button when he wrote, Concealed Carry, Concealed Safety.

Thousands of people also logged into Neil's tribute to Madison Magazine Editor Brian Howell, who died of lung cancer in November.

What will 2004 bring? Well, if you believe local psychics, more scandal will surface, the Brewers will have a winning season and flying saucer technology will be unveiled in Oshkosh. If not, just stay tuned to News 3 and logged on to Channel 3000, and we'll keep you informed, in touch and involved.
