25-year-old man shot on Watson Ave.
Police say 2 gun incidents on south side similar
A man was injured and hospitalized and another told police he feared for his life after two similar shooting incidents happened on Madison's south side early Saturday.
The Madison Police Department's South District is investigating two gun-related incidents that occurred shortly after 3 a.m. on Saturday in the industrial park south of the West Beltline Highway between Fish Hatchery and Syene roads.
One of the incidents occurred in the 800 block of Watson Avenue where police said a 22-year-old man was shot in the stomach.
The man was taken to a local emergency room by friends for treatment, police said. He was taken to an out of state hospital by family and was released.
The victim was not providing any details about the incident to officers.
According to a report, a second incident happened about a block away near 3100 Kingsley Way, also in the industrial park, at approximately the same time.
In the second incident, a man in his 20s ran up to and began pounding on the door of a business asking for help and saying someone was shooting at him, police said. The man was not injured, but he was afraid for his safety, Balles added.
Police said it wasn't clear on Saturday morning if the Kingsley Way incident occurred before or after the Watson Avenue incident.
South District detectives asked anyone who may have information related to the ongoing investigations to call 266-4275 or contact Madison Area Crimestoppers at 266-6014 where information can be left and all callers can remain anonymous.
