QUIETLY AND IN THE BACKGROUND - THAT IS HOW A JANESVILLE
MAN IS TOUCHING THE LIVES OF PEOPLE IN WISCONSIN.
HE NEITHER SEEKS NOR WANTS ATTENTION FOR HIS ACTS
-- MICHELLE --
BUT AS NEWS 3 REPORTER DAVE DELOZIER TELLS US - THE
GIFT HE GIVES THE COMMUNITY .
HELPS HONOR AMERICAN HEROES.
i think it is important.
i respect the flag
IF THERE EVER WAS AN AMERICAN STORY
nat of saw
IT LIVES IN DAVID WAGNER'S WOOD SHOP.
well, it is something i've always enjoyed doing even
as a child i did work with wood.
THE STRENGTH OF OAK AND TWO HANDS COMBINE TO CREATE
yeah, i enjoy making things.
HIS GREATEST SATISFACTION THOUGH - COMES NOT IN MAKING
SOMETHING FOR HIMSELF
nat of saw
BUT FOR SOMEONE ELSE.
got to thinking, you know a lot of times after a veteran
dies they get the flag and the wife really has no
place to put it so it ends up in a dresser drawer
and it is forgotten.
IT STARTED WITH ONE SINGULAR CASE
- AS A WAY OF REMEMBERING.
ONE CASE TURNED INTO TWO.
TWO TURNED INTO TEN AND TEN - WELL LETS JUST SAY HE'S
NOW NEARING ONE HUNDRED.
i always put a little note in there.
it just says out of respect for what the veterans
that have served our country.
that's why i've done it.
HE ASKS FOR NOTHING IN RETURN - BUT WHAT HE GETS
actually i've got quite a file of them i guess here.
YOU COULD NEVER PUT A PRICE TAG ON.
wagner, thank you so much
it will be a lasting tribute to my husband.
PHOTOS AND WORDS FROM FAMILIES THAT TELL YOU HOW MUCH
my father's flag now sits in
it along side of my father-in-laws
thank you again.
IN EACH FLAG CASE YOU SEE A REMINDER OF SERVICE AND
DAVID WAGNER UNDERSTANDS THAT - BECAUSE HE'S BEEN
FOR AS MUCH AS HE GAVE AND NOW GIVES - HE SAYS THIS
IS ABOUT THE SACRIFICE OF OTHERS.
you reallty respect and often wonder if i could have
i don't know if i could have done that.
WHAT HE DOES THOUGH - ONE PIECE OF WOOD AT A TIME
- IS HONOR OUR VETERANS AND THEIR AMERICAN STORY.
there's a pride of accomplishment.
you see you've done something and when you get all
done it is someth you feel good about.
IN JANESVILLE, THIS IS DAVE DELOZIER, WISC - NEWS
DAVID WAGNER PAYS FOR ALL OF THE WOOD AND GLASS.
OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET.

HE SAYS THOSE NOTES FROM FAMILY MEMBERS ARE THANKS
