WE TAKE IT FOR GRANTED - BUT MORE THAN FIFTY HOMES
IN BELOIT NO LONGER DO.
THEY'VE BEEN WITHOUT WATER TO THEIR HOMES FOR MORE
THAN A WEEK NOW.

NEWS 3'S DAVE DELOZIER .
HELP HAS FINALLY ARRIVED.
DAVE - ONE HOME AT A TIME - CITY CREWS ARE MELTING
THE ICE IN THE WATER LINES.
THEY'RE USING A MACHINE THAT JUST ARRIVED TODAY.
IT IS A SLOW AND TEDIOUS PROCESS TO MELT THE ICE IN
THE WATER LINE.
IT ISN'T LIKE WATCHING PAINT DRY - IT'S LIKE WATCHING
its pretty widespread unfortunately.
53 HOMES IN BELOIT HAVE BEEN WITHOUT WATER FOR DAYS
BECAUSE OF FROZEN WATER LINES.
AND IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT THAT'S LIKE - JUST ASK
you have no idea how much you depend on water.
THIS PAST SUNDAY MARILYN FOUND OUT.
no water anad thought well i've been having a little
trouble with my faucet in the kitchen and i thought,
well its gone.
i'm going to have to get a new one.
THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN EASY - COMPARED WITH THIS.
so you're out close to where the ice is.
WAYNE STEURER AND MIKE FALLIN - WITH THE BELOIT WATER
UTILITY ARE ON A MISSION.
SOMEWHERE OUT IN THAT WATER LINE IS SOME ICE.
THEY'RE USING A HIGH PRESSURE JET PULSE HOT WATER
UNIT TO TRY TO MELT IT.
WHICH IS EASIER SAID - THAN DONE.
it still presents a challenge you know.
trying to get it to feed through all of the little
nooks and crannies down there.
we don't know what down there.
AND WHILE THEY TRY TO OPEN UP THE WATER LINE - MARILYN
HAS TIME TO REMEMBER HOW MUCH SHE MISSES HAVING WATER.
i was getting ready for bed and i thought what am
i going to use to brush my teeth laughs.
SO WHILE WAYNE AND MIKE TRY TO MELT THAT ICE
NAT OF MACHINE
AND MARILYN TRIES TO DEAL WITH NO WATER.
it is, it is the little things that really drive you
THE CITY OF BELOIT TRIES TO LEARN FROM THIS LONG -
COLD WINTER .
and there's going to be lessons learned, there's no
doubt there will be lessons learned from this.
THE PULSE JET UNIT WAS UNABLE TO MELT THE ICE - SO
THEY ARE GOING TO TRY TO BRING IN A DIFFERENT MACHINE.
CLEARLY THE WATER PROBLEMS - JUST LIKE THIS WINTER
- DON'T SEEM TO WANT TO END ANYTIME SOON.
