AS NEWS 3 REPORTER DAVE DELOZIER TELLS US - ONE MAN
WENT OUT TO HELP - BUT CAME VERY CLOSE TO NOT COMING
TO LOOK AT THIS STRETCH OF ROAD TODAY - YOU'D NEVER
conditions were getting worse and worse.
FOR A WORLD PASSING BY AT 65 - TIRE TRACKS ALONG SIDE
THE ROAD ARE THE ONLY REMINDERS.
it was a tough day.
A TOUGH DAY FOR DRIVERS AS A WINTER STORM SWEPT THROUGH
A TOUGHER DAY FOR TOW TRUCK OPERATORS - WHO WERE TRYING
this trailer had slide down
in the ditch and was practically
IT WAS AROUND TWO IN THE AFTERNOON.
TODD MENZEL AND HIS BROTHER TIM - CO-OWNERS OF PRAIRIE
LAND TOWING WERE WORKING TO GET THE TRUCK OUT.
TIM WAS IN THE CAB OF THE TOW TRUCK - TODD WAS OUTSIDE
NEAR THE SEMI.
all of a sudden i looked in my mirror, my passenger
mirror and i see the white subaru car.
THE WHITE SUBARU WENT BETWEEN THE TOW TRUCK AND POLICE
CAR AND WAS HEADING FOR TODD.
it was like seconds and all of a sudden i see him
in my mirror flying up in the air.
i lose him in my mirror and he came back down into
my mirror and then i watched the car proceed farther
into the ditch and hear the car hit the trailer and
then at that point i kind of broke down because i
thought he was gone.
HIS BROTHER TODD WAS UNDERNEATH CAR.
i expected to find him dead.
it was dead silence when i was hit and i didn't even
know i was hit until the car was on top of me.
SOME HOW TODD SURVIVED WITH ONLY BUMPS AND BRUISES

i've got three kids at home, a wife, a brother, a
i lost my father when i was 12 and all if could think
of was, i didn't want my kids to lose their's.
WHICH IS WHY TODD AND TIM WANT YOU TO THINK ABOUT
IT THE NEXT TIME YOU SEE AN EMERGENCY VEHICLE ALONG
you need to slow and move over because you never know
what's going to happen.
MOVING OVER FOR EMERGENCY AND HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE
VEHICLES IS THE LAW IN WISCONSIN.
AND ERIC AND MICHELLE - FAILING TO MOVE OVER OR SLOW
DOWN CAN GET YOU SOMETHING FAR WORSE THAN A TICKET.
IF YOU HURT OR KILL SOMEONE - THAT'S SOMETHING YOU'D
HAVE TO LIVE WITH.
