Onalaska Priest Faces Child Porn Charges
Father Umberger Pleads Not Guilty

ONALASKA, Wis. -- A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of an Onalaska priest accused of possessing child pornography.The Rev. Patrick Umberger stood silent in La Crosse County Circuit Court Wednesday. He was bound over for trial after waiving his preliminary hearing.A criminal complaint said the 59-year-old priest told a state agent that he's sexually attracted to boys and young men and that he searched the Internet for photos of boys. Investigators say they found several illicit images involving children on Umberger's computer.Umberger was a priest at St. Patrick's Catholic Parish in Onalaska since 2005, taught at the church's school and was a chaplain at Aquinas Middle School. He has been removed from the active ministry.Umberger is out of jail on bond.
