McFarland Church Holds Meeting To Cope With Standoff
Man Was Killed In Police Standoff Last Week

MCFARLAND, Wis. -- McFarland community leaders hosted a gathering Wednesday night to help residents cope with a deadly police standoff.Residents were shaken last week when a police standoff ended with officers fatally shooting the armed man.The Rev. Jerry Tews, pastor at McFarland Lutheran Church, said he's spoken to parents worried about explaining the incident to children who witnessed the barricades and crime tape in their neighborhood."If adults are able to share their response cleanly and clearly, children do not seem to have as much a difficulty," Tews said.McFarland Lutheran Church hosted the gathered Wednesday night. The city's police chief and area counselors attended and spoke about the incident.
