Heavy overnight rains lead to rescues and evacuations in Grant County Saturday morning, where flash flooding has caused more than a half million dollars in damage.

Grant County Emergency Management was out in the field again Sunday, assessing the damage in various townships to determine what areas were hit hardest.

Some residents near Potosi were evacuated due to flash flooding early Saturday morning.

In the early hours Saturday morning, the emergency calls poured in.

Roads and bridges in rural areas of the county were heavily damaged or washed away completely.

"Just from the townships we've had report in, we're looking at about $600,000 in damage to infrastructure at this point," said Steve Braun, emergency management director for Grant County.

After a full report is provided to the state, the county will likely be seeking state or federal disaster assistance.

Grant County residents with flood damage can call the Grant County Emergency Management Office at 608-723-7171.
