Blues Fest Attendance Down

Organizers Re-Evaluate Event Location

Madison Blues Fest organizers say they need more support if the event is going to stay in Madison.

Workers are cleaning up after about 12,000 people showed up at this weekend's festival.Promoters say they were expecting about 20,000.

They say it's an expensive event, especially considering rough economic times, and they still need a certain amount of people to make it work.

Kirk Dyer, site manager for the Blues Fest, feels the economy is the main reason for the low attendance.

"The economy needs to turn around. The entertainment dollar is probably the last dollar people spend."

Dyer says the Blues Fest is a go for next year, but organizers will have to re-evaluate if it will come back to Madison after that.
