MONONA, Wis. -- A couple from Hawaii is in Dane County to plant a tree for a new documentary.Joe Imhoff said he and his wife, Sara, plan to travel the country and plant a tree in every state. Their first stop: Wisconsin, where Joe has roots of his own. Imhoff is a Monona native."It's really cool to kick off the tour in my hometown. I mean, it's perfect. You know in the park that I grew up in. I used to play in the trees," said Imhoff. "It's cool to come here and plant a tree so that when I come back I can see it grow and all my family can come and help take care of it." On Monday, the Imhoffs helped plant a 750-pound tree. He said it should live at least 100 years.Imhoff said he got the idea for the documentary while working in a Hawaiian forest, which was taken over by invasive trees."I can't continue to be planting the trees myself, so that's why this project is here to inspire -- say we get a million people to plant a tree. Then, it's just as easy as me planting a million trees, but I don't have to water them all," said Imhoff.Imhoff grew up in a house on Baskerville Avenue, which is near the tree's new home in Winnequah Park.
