Janesville Preschoolers Share Love Overseas

Students Organized Care Packages For Child's Father

Updated: 3:54 pm CDT March 22, 2010

Preschool children in Janesville were busy recently sending a little love overseas.

Children at Janesville's Sunshine Patch School had fun putting together care packages for student Elijah Bourdeaux’s father. Elijah is enrolled at Sunshine Patch, and his dad is currently serving in Iraq.

The children gathered up supplies and snacks for Elijah's dad, remembering not to leave out his fellow soldiers.

Later in the week, the U.S. Post Service stopped by to pick up those packages, much to Elijah’' delight.

"He woke up this morning and knew right away today was the day the Post Office was coming to pick up packages for his daddy. So we're very excited, both of us," said Elijah's mom, Erika Bourdeaux.

Elijah's dad doesn't know the care packages are on the way, so Erika believes it will be a nice surprise.

The boxes should arrive within the next two weeks.
