Four people were hurt after being ejected from a vehicle following a single-vehicle rollover crash in Rock County on Friday night.

Authorities also handed out three seperate OWI citations in relation to this crash.

Emergency crews responded to the crash just after 10 p.m. on Highway M, about one-third of a mile east of Staff Road. The intersection is southwest of the city of Edgerton, authorities said.

Authorities say Chad Hermanson, 24, was driving a Chevy Silverado eastbound on Highway M, when he passed a car also traveling eastbound. Authorities say westbound vehicle was coming when Hermanson completed his pass, but lost control negotiating a curve.

Hermanson and his three passengers were ejected. Hermanson suffered spinal injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Janesville. He was also arrested for Causing Great Bodily Harm by Intoxicated Use of a Motor Vechicle, reckless driving, excessive speed and not wearing a seatbelt.

Hermanson's passengers were also taken to local hospitals. Nicholas Manion, 24, suffered head injuries, a collapsed lung and, a dislocated hip. Ashley Tomlin, 23, had head and neck injuries, a broken pelvis, and a dislocated hip. Wade Janes, 24, suffered head injuries and a dislocated hip. All three were cited for not wearing a seat belt.

A second OWI was issued for the driver of the car that Hermanson's truck passed. Authorities say the truck and car were traveling together and the car pulled over when the truck crashed.

Driver Hilary Hazlett, 21, was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 2nd offense, along with not wearing a seat belt. She began hyperventilating at the scene and was transported to Edgerton Hospital.

The crash closed HIghway M for five hours as a crash reconstruction team worked. During this time, another driver attempted to drive through the closed-off road, despite two squad cars blocking the road. Peter Helgesen, 23, was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 2nd offense. His passenger was cited for underage drinking.

Rock County authorities say this crash is still under investigation and more charges could be pending.

A Rock County sheriff's deputy at the scene reported the four people were ejected after the driver of a white pickup truck lost control and rolled the vehicle.

A crash reconstruction team from the Wisconsin State Patrol was working to help determine exactly what happened.

Deputies said that they believe alcohol was a factor, WISC-TV reported.

Rock County dispatchers also report that roads in the area were slippery, but it wasn't known if the weather played a role in the crash.

The Edgerton Fire Department, Milton EMS and Janesville EMS, and the Rock County Sheriff's Department all responded to the crash.
