Protesters Mark 7th Anniversary Of Iraq War In Wisconsin

Madison Protests Slated For Saturday

Updated: 4:55 pm CDT March 19, 2010

Protesters across the state are marking the seventh anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

About 75 people marched through downtown Milwaukee on Friday. They're calling for the U.S. to end its wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Milwaukee protests seem to be losing steam. The same event drew 200 people last year and 500 the year before.

Jacob Flom, 24, of Milwaukee, said he still marches to remind people the Iraq war is still going on, even if the media ignores it.

About 20 other protests are scheduled statewide Friday and Saturday, from a march in Madison to a rally in Superior.

Many of the events are organized by Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice. That's a coalition of more than 160 groups that work for social justice.
