A Janesville man charged with his ninth drunken driving offense is being held on a $15,000 cash bond.

Scott R. Ross, 47, was arrested March 3 after a single-vehicle crash.

The felony charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.

Police officer Scott Katzenmeyer testified Friday that he responded to a vehicle crash in which Ross was driving. Katzenmeyer said Ross smelled of alcohol and had glazed eyes and slurred speech.

According to The Janesville Gazette, police say Ross's history of drunken driving dates back more than 20 years.

Defense attorney Joshua Klaff told the Associated Press that if Ross is bound over for trial at his preliminary hearing, he'll plead not guilty at his arraignment.
