MADISON, Wis. -- Madison police are investigating a gun shop robbery that took place Saturday afternoon on Williamson Street."It was around a quarter to three," said Sgt. Kelly Donahue, of the Madison Police Department. "We got a call of a robbery at Grampa's Gun Store, on Williamson Street. The information we received from dispatch was that there was an employee inside the store that had been tied up."That employee was actually the store’s owner, who was eventually able to untie himself and dial 911.Police officers said that several hand guns and other varieties of guns were stolen, but as of late Saturday night, an exact count was not known. The store's inventory was under review. An employee of the store said that her boss was taken by surprise by the robbers."Somebody rang the doorbell and said they wanted to see some guns," said Donna Covey. "And when he let them in, they just started grabbing stuff."Added Sgt. Donahue, "It just raises the question of what are their intentions and what was the purpose of coming to a gun store."Police didn’t have much of a lead to go on Saturday night, saying only that they were looking for two to three black males who had likely fled the scene in a car.Anyone with any information surrounding this crime is asked to call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
