Janesville Police: Woman Attacked On Bike Trail

Incident Occurred Friday Afternoon

The Janesville Police Department said it's investigating an assault on a bike trail that occurred Friday afternoon.

Police responded to a report of an assault on the Kiwanis Bike Trail near Main Street and Palmer Drive around 1 p.m. Friday.

An 18-year-old woman told police she was tackled from behind and struck in the face by a man.

Police said the woman had minor abrasions but did not need medical attention.

The attacker was last seen running westbound from the scene. Police said a K-9 search did not result in locating the attacker.

Police said the attacker is described as a white man standing 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing about 175 pounds with an average build. The man is approximately 30 to 40 years old with a dark mustache, and he was wearing a tan baseball cap, tan shirt, tan Docker-style pants, according to police.

Police said that in the event that this incident was sexually motivated offense, detectives conducted home visits of area registered sex offenders but no suspects were developed.
