VILLAGE OF GAYS MILLS, Wis. -- The Village of Gays Mills is close to completing phase one of its plan to move part of the town to higher ground.Crews are finishing up the low to moderate income townhomes being built at the new location. The next step will be building 20 more homes and getting roads put in.They are also in the process of building a new business district.Planners say they are happy to see this big project moving forward."It's been an under served, kind of ignored, but a pristine and beautiful area," said Recovery coordinator Julie Henley. "And we want to capitalize on that maintain the sense of place that is here, protect it, but also let people know that this is really a fabulous place to visit."
