Updated: 9:33 pm CST March 9, 2010

Authorities said a Madison man is facing multiple charges following a chase and a crash Monday night on the city's East Side.

Police said an officer tried to pull over a van speeding down John Nolen Drive around 10:40 p.m. Monday, but the driver, Rahe T. Reed, 29, refused to stop on Williamson Street.

Police said that led to a chase, which officers abandoned.

Soon after, the speeding van crashed into two vehicles at the intersection of Atwood and Fair Oaks avenues, police said.

Reed and two passengers in the van suffered non life-threatening injuries, authorities said. Police said the drivers of the other two vehicles hit by the van were not hurt.

Police said Reed is facing charges that include recklessly endangering safety, eluding police and operating a motor vehicle after revocation.
