Police Execute Search Warrant On Shooting Victim's Apartment
Fatal Shooting Occurred Monday Morning

MADISON, Wis. -- Madison police are continuing to investigate a fatal shooting on the city's south side.Detectives have executed a search warrant on the victim's apartment on Moorland Road.Officers were called to the Nob Hill Apartments at about 2:30 a.m. Monday for a report of shots fired. There they found Lofton V. Sprouls, 27, of Madison with a gunshot wound.Sprouls was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities said he died of a gunshot wound.Police said the shooting doesn't appear to be a random crime. There were no immediate arrests.Detectives are re-interviewing people who might have information related to the killing.Police said they do not believe the crime is linked to any other homicide or shooting.
