VERONA, Wis. -- Fire crews responded to a fire at a chemical manufacturing company in Verona Wednesday afternoon.

A fire was reported at the Sigma-Aldrich facility in the Verona Technology Park on Thousand Oaks Trail. The facility includes labs, a processing plant and warehouse.

Sigma-Aldrich makes pharmaceutical ingredients and biochemical products.

Fire officials said the sprinkler system was on and immediately put out a small fire in the back part of the building.

Authorities said the fire was not near any chemicals.

All employees were safely evacuated.
