Event Raises Awareness About Domestic Violence

Victims Of Quadruple Homicide Remembered

Updated: 7:51 am CST January 15, 2010

The victims of a quadruple homicide were remembered for how they lived Thursday night as part of a gathering to raise awareness about domestic violence.

Two mothers and two daughters were killed on Dec. 3. Police said they were killed by Tyrone Adair, of Middleton.

Police said the 38-year-old man first killed an ex-girlfriend, Amber Weigel, and their daughter Neveah Weigel-Adair, 2. Police said he then killed Tracy Judd, who he was dating, and their 23-month-old daughter Deja Adair.

Adair later took his own life. His car was found days later in a rural area.

Thursday night -- on what would have been Judd's 34th birthday -- family, friends and strangers gathered to raise awareness about domestic violence.

The fundraiser benefitting Domestic Abuse Intervention Services was held at Scatz Nightclub in Middleton.

In Wisconsin last year, 59 people died as a result of domestic violence.

Event organizers, including the sister of Tracy Judd, said they want people to know it's possible to seek help before relationships turn deadly.

"You have to talk to people. You have to let somebody know -- a friend, a family member, DIAS, somebody. Don't keep it silent. There's nothing to be ashamed of," said Lisa Blanchard, Tracy Judd's sister.

Nationwide, one in four women will be a victim of domestic violence at some point in her lifetime.
