Madison police said they are investigating a bank robbery on East Washington Avenue Wednesday.

Police said a man entered the Home Savings Bank at about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday and passed the teller a note demanding money. Police said the note inferred that the man had a weapon.

Police said the robber left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said officers were at the scene of the bank robbery almost immediately, and they are continuing to investigate.

Police said the robber is described as a white man with a thin build who stands about 6 feet 2 inches to 6 feet 4 inches tall and was wearing a red flannel coat and dark pants.

Investigators said anyone with any information regarding the robbery is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
