Updated: 10:52 am CST December 28, 2009

Monroe County authorities said that three people have been injured in two separate crashes involving Amish buggies this weekend.

The first happened early Saturday morning in the township of Wilton. Deputies said that a 45-year-old Norwalk man swerved his pickup truck to avoid a buggy, but lost control on the slippery road and hit the buggy.

The horse was killed. The 18-year-old driver and his 17-year-old brother were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to WKBT-TV.

The second crash happened Sunday evening in the township of Wellington.

A woman from Kendall also swerved to avoid a buggy, causing her vehicle to roll twice. She was thrown from the vehicle and ended up pinned beneath it.

She was also hospitalized with injuries that weren't life-threatening.
