Fewer teenagers are having sex in Wisconsin, based on results of a new survey.

The Wisconsin Youth Behavioral Risk Survey shows that 29 percent of high school students say they had sex within the past three months, down from 33 percent in 2007. The rate has hovered around 30 percent since 1993.

The survey also shows that 41 percent of high school students reported ever having sex, down from 47 percent in 1993 and 45 percent in 2007.

The survey of more than 2,400 students in 57 public high schools was done in the spring.

The state survey is part of a larger national effort to study risky behaviors conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
