Family and friends are mourning the loss of a 17-year-old boy after a fatal car crash in Dodge County this weekend.

Authorities said Nate Strobel died after his car flipped over in the Town of Herman at around 3 a.m. on Saturday. Officers said Strobel wasn't wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.

On Sunday, his family and soccer team mourned his death at the crash site. Strobel was a junior at Hartford Union High School and a star soccer player.

According to authorities, Strobel had dropped off his best friend and was driving home when he crashed.

"It just hurts to see him go," said Strobel's friend, Justin Laird. "I'm in shock right now. I can't believe he's gone."

"My last words were, 'See you tomorrow' because we had plans -- just watching him drive away from my driveway is stuck in my head," said Strobel's best friend, Justin Schwartz.

Strobel's soccer jersey was placed at the roadside memorial.

Investigators said that they believe speed might have played a factor in the crash.
