A woman is accused of binding the ankles and wrists of a 5-year-old girl, taping her mouth and locking her in a closet in Columbia County.

Heidi L. Duesing-Christensen, 30, faces one count of child enticement, one count of physical abuse of a child, one count of child neglect, one count of second-degree reckless endangerment and one count of bail jumping. All the charges are felonies.

She made an initial appearance in Columbia County Circuit Court Tuesday.

Police said Duesing-Christensen also hit the girl and locked her in a bedroom all day without food or use of a bathroom. She's also accused of giving the girl an overdose of the cold and allergy medicine Benadryl to try to get her to sleep.

The woman was arrested on Nov. 19 after officers executed a search warrant at her home.

Two other girls, ages 3 and 12, were removed from the residence and placed in foster care.

The woman's attorney, listed in court records as Liz Mitchell, didn't immediately return a message Tuesday.
