ASHLAND, Wis. -- Sgt. Scott Kramer, of Ashland, is on his second deployment overseas with the Wisconsin Army National Guard and talks about his experiences serving overseas.

He is currently a student at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, studying construction management. Kramer serves with Troop A, First Squadron, 105th Cavalry. He's part of a Cavalry scout troop, mostly doing surveillance missions. He said he always carries a note from his wife with him.

In his spare time, Kramer said he likes to go to the gym and fish in man-made lakes around the Victory Base Complex.

When it comes to football, Kramer said he can't abide by Brett Favre's decision to play for the Minnesota Vikings.

"I can't blame the guy for wanting to continue to play ball, but why did you have to do it like this Brett? Purple is such an ugly color," he said.

Kramer and the rest of the 32nd Infantry Brigade will leave Iraq in less than two months. In preparation for returning home, all members of the 32nd received their H1N1 flu immunizations the past week. All military members inside the International Zone received the vaccine, which is mandatory for all service members, WISC-TV reported.

The U.S. Department of Defense distributed the shots in order for troops to maintain mission readiness.
