Badgers Football Player Suspended After OWI Arrest

Moore Hurt After Single-Vehicle Crash

Updated: 6:50 pm CST November 9, 2009

University of Wisconsin Badgers head coach Bret Bielema said that a junior wide receiver who was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving this weekend is suspended indefinitely.

Maurice Moore, 22, was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Regent Street over the weekend, suffering minor injuries.

In his weekly news conference, Bielema said on Monday that the player has run into trouble before.

"Mo, you may remember, was suspended before last year's bowl game," he said. "We had a number of conversations and he was clear that he would be watched on a daily basis. He is suspended indefinitely and will not be with us."

Bielema said he expected Moore to be released from the hospital on Monday and that the team will do what it can to help him academically.

He said Moore is expected to graduate in June.
