MADISON, Wis. -- Residents in Madison's historic Mansion Hill Neighborhood are learning more about scaled-back plans for a remodel of the Edgewater Hotel. An estimated 100 people gathered on Thursday night at the Pyle Center to see revised plans and hear from the developer. The new renderings of the plan were scaled back by more than 1,000 feet, losing three stories, WISC-TV reported. Some residents said that they think the redesign is still too tall, but the developer leading the Edgewater project said he's already modified he plans to please people in the neighborhood."The top experts in the businesses all concluded this is the right time, right location and right plan for this city," said developer and Hammess Co. president Bob Dunn.Dunn argued the new tower height is comparable to nearby office and apartment buildings. It was dropped from 11 to eight stories, and the view from the street to the lake was improved.
