Area police are investigating two robberies this weekend.

Fitchburg police are looking into an armed robbery that happened in the 2400 block of Post Road at approximately 1 a.m. Saturday. Police said two victims were sitting in their car when two men wearing black bandanas over their faces approached them and displayed a gun.

The bandana-wearing men took money, a cell phone, and the victim's keys, and then fled in an older-model SUV that reportedly had a loud exhaust.

Meanwhile, Madison police are investigating an armed robbery that happened on a bike path near St. Paul Avenue. Police said that two men wearing handkerchiefs over their faces presented a handgun and then proceeded to steal a wallet and a cell phone from a victim around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

The men then fled in a dark-colored vehicle.

In this robbery, police were able to provide a description of the suspects. Police described one suspect as being in his late teens, around 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing a black pullover shirt. The other suspect was described as being in his early 20, around 6 feet tall and wearing a tan jacket.

At this point, authorities aren't drawing a connection between the two crimes.

Authorities said that anyone with information on either incident is asked to call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
