Suspect In Sun Prairie Shooting Released On Electronic Monitoring

Police Say Clay Connected With Drive-By Style Shooting

Updated: 8:39 am CDT October 3, 2009

A 17-year-old boy who Sun Prairie police said they believe is connected to a drive-by-style shooting last weekend has been released on electronic monitoring.

Darren Clay was in Dane County Court on Wednesday to face charges of discharging a firearm in a vehicle and three counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety.

Police said that Clay fired shots at a car near Highway C and Hopeker Road in Sun Prairie on Sunday, injuring a man and an infant with broken glass. No one was shot.

The court commissioner set cash bail at $5,000 per charge, but bail was allowed to revert to a signature bond with Clay participating in the electronic monitoring program.

Clay is expected to be in court again for a status conference on Oct. 19.
