A fire caused damage to the Engineering Research building on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus on Thursday night.

The fire crews arrived at the building on Engineering Drive at around 8:15 p.m. to investigate a smoke alarm and found a fire in one of the offices. Firefighters were able to put out the flames with a small amount of water and used fans to clear out the smoke.

The fire was contained to just one room and damage is estimated at $20,000.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing, officials said.

No injuries were reported.
