Authorities in the Town of Oregon are investigating a crash late Saturday afternoon that involved an 8-year-old bicyclist and a car.

The accident happened just before 3 p.m. on Saturday in the 5800 block of Lincoln Road. Investigators said an 8-year-old girl on a bike pulled out of a driveway and into traffic.

The driver of the car involved, a 20-year-old Brooklyn man, was unable to stop.

The girl suffered serious injuries and was transported via Medflight to a local hospital, where she is in serious condition.

It's unclear whether the girl was wearing a helmet.
