Small Plane Overturns On Brodhead Airport Runway

Plane's Lone Occupant Suffers Minor Injuries

Posted: 2:41 pm CDT July 24, 2009

The Green County Sheriff's Department said a small plane flipped over on the runway at the Brodhead Airport shortly before noon Friday.

Sheriff's officials said the preliminary investigation indicates that a single-engine aircraft was landing when the landing gear collapsed, causing the plane to overturn.

The lone occupant, pilot William R. Fisher, 58, of Jackson, Tenn., suffered minor injuries and was not transported to a hospital.

Authorities said the incident damaged the canopy, tail section, wing, and landing gear of the aircraft.

The Sheriff's Department said it notified the Federal Aviation Administration by contacting the Rockford International Airport, which is routinely done when incidents of this nature occur.
