2 Madison-area credit unions to merge
Heartland, Kilowatt credit unions to merge Aug. 1
Two Madison-area credit unions announced they will be merging to offer more options with personal service, according to a release.
Heartland Credit Union and Kilowatt Credit Union will merge on Aug. 1, according to the release.
Heartland Credit Union is based in Madison and has offices in Verona, Dodgeville, Lancaster, Platteville, Janesville and DeForest.
“Heart is large enough to offer the many services Kilowatt CU has been unable to offer. And they’re small enough to provide the personal service important to our members/owners,” Nicki Troia, president/CEO of Kilowatt CU said in the release.
Kilowatt CU was formed in 1935 to serve employees of what is now known as Alliant Energy Corporation and grew to serve communities in Columbia, Dane, Dodge and Sauk counties, according to the release
Heartland CU was formed in 1936 and originally served telephone company employees throughout the state, according to the release. Heartland now serves 29 counties in southern Wisconsin, eastern Iowa and northern Illinois.
Heartland CU serves over 20,000 member-owners with savings, checking, business and agriculture loans, and home loans, according to the release.
