The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reports two deaths from probable cases of West Nile virus.
The department tells WISN-TV that one death was a 78-year-old Milwaukee County woman and the other was a 71-year-old Waukesha County woman.
State health officials said there are 13 probable human cases in several counties, including Milwaukee and Waukesha counties. All of the Waukesha cases were people over the age of 50.
Officials said the mosquito-borne virus is hitting Wisconsin later than normal because of the hot, dry summer.
One report of West Nile virus has been reported in Dane County.
People are urged to take precautions around mosquitoes.
