MADISON, Wis. -

The first two babies born in Madison this year are both girls, according to local hospitals.

Monica Mary Moreland was born at 1:28 a.m. Wednesday at Meriter Hospital weighing 9 pounds, hospital spokesman Michael Flaherty said.

The 21-inch-long baby girl is the daughter of Bonnie Kalla-Moreland and Kurt Moreland, the hospital said.

The Morelands' little girl was the second baby born in Madison in 2014.

The first baby was born at St. Mary's Hospital at 1:12 a.m. Harlem Lee, who came 16 minutes earlier than Monica, is also a girl.

St. Mary's spokeswoman Kim Sveum said Harlem Lee and her mother are doing well.
