A man accused in a fatal hit-and-run crash on Madison's West Side was formally charged in Dane County Circuit Court Friday.

Robert Jones, 27, was charged with hit-and-run resulting in the death of Larry Caraway, 19, on Saturday night.

According to the criminal complaint, a citizen tip on Jones' car led to his arrest following the hit-and-run.

When confronted by police about the damage to his car, the criminal complaint said Jones told an officer "all of a sudden he disappeared in front of my car. I didn't swerve off. I didn't do anything; I was going through the light."

If convicted, Jones faces up to 25 years in prison.
