Police Investigating Break-Ins On Madison's North Side

Police: Thieves Targeting Visible Valuables Left In Cars

Updated: 2:48 pm CDT July 1,2009

Madison police are investigating a series of car break-ins.

On Tuesday morning, thieves hit about 10 cars that were all parked in the 500 block of Northport Drive on the city's north side.

Police said the suspects follow the same M.O.

"They are usually on foot, maybe with a car nearby and they are looking for unlocked doors and inside consoles for anything of value," said Lt. Brian Ackert.

Police said the thieves are taking electronics, including GPS units and stereos.
