Updated: 7:49 pm CDT June 30, 2009

Madison police are investigating a series of car break-ins on the city's north side early Tuesday.

Police said that the thefts happened in the 500 hundred block of Northport Drive in an apartment complex. About 10 cars were targeted at about 3 a.m. on Tuesday.

Electronics, including GPS units and stereos, were the apparent goal of these thieves.

Authorities said that they are warning motorists not to leave anything of value in their cars overnight.
