Beloit Police Investigate Double Shooting

One Victim Listed In Serious Condition

Two people were found shot and wounded in a crashed car in Beloit early Sunday morning.

The two victims -- David Deangelo Davis, 30, and Anthony Gibson, 25 --were found on Highway 81 near Woodward Avenue. Davis was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police said Gibson is in serious but stable condition.

A Beloit police officer discovered the crash scene at about 3:30 a.m. Authorities said that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on White Avenue and crashed near Woodward. Beloit Police Capt. William Tyler said an officer found the vehicle crashed into a street-light pole around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. He said preliminary autopsy results show Davis died of injuries sustained in the shooting.

Both men have been living in Beloit but are originally from the Chicago area.

Police continue to investigate the incident, which they are calling a homicide. They said they've determined where the shooting took place.

Police said that this is the second killing in the city this year.
