Alcohol was involved in Saturday's high-speed chase, which left the suspect in the hospital, authorities said.

James A. Jones, 25, refused to stop for police at Highway B and Country Club Road in Stoughton, police said. Jones took officers through a golf course at speeds up to 90 mph and then re-emerged on Highway 51 and Schneider Drive.

The chase ended in a crash at the intersection of Highway 51 and Brooklyn Drive. Three cars were involved.

Witnesses said Jones' Dodge Neon rear-ended an SUV, pushed it into another SUV, and ran it off the road. Jones' car reportedly ended up on its side with its roof ripped off.

Jones was the only one involved to suffer serious injuries. A MedFlight helicopter transported him to a local hospital. Occupants in the other two vehicles were treated and released at the scene, authorities said.

Authorities said Jones will be charged with causing injury by operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a intoxicant, knowingly fleeing an officer and recklessly endangering Safety. Authorities also said Jones will be issued citations for numerous traffic violations.
