Several Injured In 7-Vehicle Crash Involving Ambulance

Lanes Have Been Reopened

Updated: 9:53 am CDT May 30, 2009

Authorities said seven vehicles, including a Ryan Brothers Ambulance, were involved in a crash Friday afternoon at Stoughton and Pflaum roads.

Lori Wirth, spokeswoman for the Madison Fire Department, said the crash occurred around 2 p.m. Friday, and the city of Madison sent three ambulances. Monona and McFarland also sent ambulances.

Wirth said Madison ambulances transported six people, including some of the people from the ambulance, to a hospital. None had life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

The Ryan Brothers Ambulance had a patient in it, but it doesn't appear the patient was hurt in the crash, authorities said. Ryan Brothers provided another ambulance to transport the patient to a hospital.

One lane of traffic southbound on Stoughton Road has reopened, and another lane opened shortly after that.
