Madison, Wis. -- Detectives from the Rock County Sheriff's Department are trying to determine how an Orfordville-area woman suffered head injuries that have left her in a coma.

Sandra Cole, 47, was found Sunday in her home at the Country Courts mobile home park.

Authorities said she remains in critical condition at Mercy hospital. Investigators said doctors aren't sure whether her injuries are the result of a fall or a battery.

"Depending on if she comes through, if we can talk to her, that obviously will help," said Capt. Todd Christiansen. "Right now, we are just relying heavily on the evidence that we've collected."

That evidence has been sent to the state crime lab for testing.
