The crash occurred around 7:20 a.m. on Highway 14 at Kemp Road in Bradford Township.

Authorities said a Clinton School bus, driven by Paul L. Knaak, 65, of Clinton, was southbound on Kemp Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at Highway 14 and traveled into the path of an eastbound car driven by a 43-year-old Janesville man.

The driver of the car was transported to Mercy Hospital for an arm injury. Deputies said it's extremely fortunate that the man's injury wasn't more severe.

"There were 16 children on the school bus, none of whom were seriously injured. Two complained of minor injuries but did not require medical transportation," said Sgt. Steve Selby, of the Rock County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said one student complained of a bump to the head and another student complained of pain to the wrist.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office said that Knaak was cited for failure to stop at stop sign and failure to yield right of way, though district officials said the driver told them he stopped and proceeded through the intersection without seeing the oncoming vehicle.

The Clinton School District said the bus driver don't won't be working again until next week at the earliest as the district awaits the results of a drug test.

The school district said as long as the drug test is negative, the bus driver will be back at work. The district said he's a good driver who is usually very cautious.
