Madison police are investigating a mysterious call that came into Dean Care Saturday morning.

A woman apparently called the clinic around 10:30 a.m., asking how to care for someone who had cut their fingers off.

The woman told the clinic worker she caught her husband having an affair, and he offered to cut his fingers off to show her how much he really loved her, police said. She apparently wanted a clinic worker to tell her how to care for the man after he did it, but the clinic worker refused and called Madison police.

Officers tried to trace the call, but were unable.
