'Leprechaun' Asks State Lawmakers To Save Film Industry's 'Pot Of Gold'

Governor Has Proposed Eliminating Credits

Updated: 12:18 pm CDT March 17, 2009

A lobbyist leprechaun is asking lawmakers to save the film industry's "pot of gold" this St. Patrick's Day.

Ann Rawlinson, a film scout from Pewaukee, donned a green suit, tights and a top hat as she lobbied lawmakers at the state Capitol to save the industry's generous tax credits.

She even used a fake Irish accent as she argued the tax breaks helped bring movies, television shows, commercials, video games and hundreds of jobs to Wisconsin.

Gov. Jim Doyle has proposed eliminating the credits, saying they are an inefficient way to promote economic development.

Rawlinson, who owns a company called Location Wisconsin, volunteered to play the leprechaun in response to a call on Facebook from the group Film Wisconsin.
